So, what is Ratchet Galaxy ?
This month exploded with news from both Ratchet and Clank's movie and ps4 game! Because of how much content is from each, I will be doing separate news on the Ratchet and Clank Movie, and a non-spoiler overview of the Ps4 game's news.
Many gamers and popular websites got to play the first 6 levels of the Ratchet and Clank Ps4 game. Though every one of those levels has been fully revealed, it still left a lot of question unanswered. A brand new objective, card collections, has been added to the game. It is uncertain what their exact purpose is, but they can upgrade weapons, armors, and unlock cool secrets.
Many weapons, characters, enemies, levels, and gadgets have returned from the original game, including 3 new levels, and characters from the movie. However, only Bella Thorne, Vincent Tong, and Rosiario Dawson have returning voice actors.
Ratchet and Clank also kick some asteroid in an all new PS4 trailer! There are spoilers, so be warned. In short, everything about the game looks beautiful, and if you live in the USA, you know the game comes out in 3 weeks!
James Stevenson said that this would be the final trailer for the PS4 game, which means we probably won't get anymore news from them about Insomniac's galactic duo. As for the movie, expect a new trailer a Wondercon this friday! All the voice actors along with Kevin Munroe will be there, so stay tuned for news at Ratchet Galaxy.
Your eyes do not deceive you: that is the Plumber, a Ratchet and Clank character known for making cameos in almost every Ratchet and Clank game! His design is based off of the future series, but there are notable differences in his features. No word yet on who will be voicing him.
Many other images were shown, but for the sake of spoilers, I will only present a few. This one gives a good look at the inside of a combuster...a fairly large combuster. Clank's mouth appears to be jutted out more.
Grimroth is eating cereal--or judging from the logo: Qwarky-os! "Get healthy by eating me every day!" A very interesting reference to the Ps3 Ratchet games.
In this image, Qwark talks down to a sad, little Lombax. This scene probably takes place after the popular line: "You don't have what it takes."
The rangers gather around for a group meeting. In the hologram we can see the deplanitizor, possibly heading to its next destination. The little green robot above Clank has been confirmed as "Zed," who will be voiced by Andrew Cownden.
This image shows off the impressive visual effects of lighting in the Ratchet and Clank movie. Victor's razor claws are trying to break open the door so he can get to Clank.
Cora Veralux and Brax Lectrus strike a pose in this screenshot! The ranger's armor designs are quite impressive. The location appears to be Veldin, where Qwark was holding Ranger tryouts for the citizens.
That's all for now, but tomorrow, the press embargo for Ratchet and Clank lifts, so expect plenty of news from Insomniac Games! Ratchet Galaxy (French) members were lucky enough to watch the movie and play the Ps4 game on the big screen; they will be giving their impressions of the game Thursday[/color].

February was one of the most news-packed months for Ratchet and Clank! Both the Novel and the Reader came out, and were well-received by the fans. They say it made them even more hyped for the movie, which is blasting into theaters in just two months!
There were also a few new Ps4 images of planet Veldin, including one scene from the night and daytime. The Ps4 game's release is only a month plus a few weeks away, so expect more gameplay videos from Insomniac!
One scene in particular, features gameplay of Ratchet throwing a bomb at robots and horny toads. Since this is before he meets Clank, we can assume this is the starting level. Judging by the fans in the background, it looks like Ratchet is in a testing arena for Ranger tryouts.
The official Ratchet Movie Twitter has been on an image-posting spree these past few weeks. Most of the images show Cora in action, or Clank in the robot factory.
In an interesting turn of events, Nashville Scoring.com has featured one of Michael Bross's un-used tracks for Into the Nexus...or is it? According to Tim Salvitti, Insomnaic Games Forum Admin, this could actually be an intro used in the Ps4 game! Just click on #12 to here it in full. The track is very reminiscent of Bross's better scores, like All 4 One.
Want to see some pretty interesting gameplay of Up Your Arsenal's beta? Watch now on RC Lombax's channel, and tell him Ratchet Galaxy sent you!
Love Ratchet and Clank as much as Qwark loves himself? Then watch this livestream event from GNOMON Education! Five Insomniacs discuss the making of Sunset Overdrive and the Ratchet and Clank Ps4 game.
Erin Zaneski, a character artist, was able to present many of the characters she helped model for the game. The full image collection will be shown at the bottom of the news post. This is an example of the Rilgar and Kallibo IV robots re-imagined for the ps4. It's a four-step process:
1) re-visit original concept art for character.
2) study original ps2 design of character.
3) create re-imagined concept art design.
4) model the new concept art design.
However, not every character is the same as before. Skidd's Agent turned into a brand-new character called "Shiv Helix." He's a cell-mate in the prison that Qwark broke out of (backstory, perhaps?). He has a robot arm and wears prison garb. Other new characters like the Brain Scientist and Felton Razz were also featured.
In addition to character models, Erin also modeled some vehicles for the PS4 game. The Tanker and Hoverboard now have more sleek and refined designs. She said she really wanted to give off the emphasis of looking at an enemy from afar, and recognizing what it is, and how to react to it.
Henrique Naspolini, a senior character artist, modeled Mrs. Zurkon, and the Dropship of Doom. He also showed off different attempts at textures for the ship, and how he was able to get an interior for Mrs. Zurkon.
The final character artist, Xavier Coelho-Kostolny, explained the challenges of modeling with his example of Captain Qwark. He had to go from a movie design, to a game design, using different poly-counts. He had problems texturing the eyes and the body in general. He said he worked on a total of nine characters, and 1 ship.
Poland's Ratchet and Clank Movie poster has a very...different translation for the tagline. There is also an Iceland Trailer for the movie, complete with an all-star cast.
Here is the full gallery of images from the livestream.

It has been a news-filled week for our two heroes. Rainmaker released the official theater poster for the Ratchet and Clank Movie, and the PlayStation Magazine had some new content for the Ps4 game!
The movie poster finally puts James Arnold Taylor and David Kaye's names along with the others--a wish come from for both voice actors. Qwark holds up the Ratchet and Clank title, with Ratchet and Clank on top. Cora and Brax are on either side of them, and Chairman Drek lurks behind menacingly.
As for the PS magazine, it has a pretty interesting cover: Qwark is holding up glasses while reading a script, Clank is sitting on a table memorizing his lines, Ratchet is lying on a couch, throwing a paper airplane, and Dr. Nefarious drinks radioactive coffee while looking bummed out.
Inside the magazine are two screenshots of planet Veldin during the daytime! Ratchet doesn't have Clank on his back, so it's possible that this is before he meets Clank. Judging by the Galactic Ranger promos surrounding the plateau, it's safe to say Ratchet is trying to meet up with Qwark. There's even a Qwark robot like the one from Metropolis!
Ted Price said that his team worked so hard to make sure that this was the best Ratchet and Clank game ever. He also said that he would love to continue the series in this direction if there was enough fan service for it. Having a movie helps too.
This image of two Blarg getting blown up seems to indicate that a new weapon could be in play. Perhaps they took a page out of Into The Nexus, and made a grav bomb!
What else is new this month? Both the Ratchet and Clank Novel and Movie Reader come out in early February, so unless you want to get blasted with spoilers, I'd advise to stay away from them. For more news on Ratchet and Clank, stay tuned to Ratchet Galaxy.
