Thread: Anyone Hoping for a SAC Sequel?

Is anyone else also hoping that there'd be a sequel to this game (or another PSP Ratchet game in general)? I know I am ^_^

It would be kinda interesting me thinks, but only if it's a spin-off or so, since I kinda don't really see how it would work with the canon-main storyline xD

Well Secret Agent Clank was basically a spin-off game anyway, but I think the only problem with having a sequel to SAC is to not have a story plot that is too similar like the first game.

Clank was the main hero, Ratchet was in prison and Qwark did random things in Secret Agent Clank. Then what? It ain't going to be another story where Ratchet becomes too vulnerable and Clank doing some spying that's pretty hooky… unless High Impact Games or even Insomniac thinks of a better story plot for another Secret Agent Clank game.

I find that R&C doesn't work as well on psp due to there being no R2 and L2 to help lock on and control camera movements

That's kinda… um… well, a thing that a person would say without playing the actual games themselves. SAC and SM work well on the PSP (the PS2 ones are the awkward ports. To me, at least).

And I see your point Tipsy. I still think it could be done well. We already know SAC is a basic parody of James Bond. I could imagine SAC2 pretty much being like the SAC Holo-Shown in R&C3 (with robotic bosses, not Klunk, and possibly going free roaming since it is possible for a free roam environment - see GTA).

I have played size matters on PSP, and I found it hard to control without L2 & R2 to lock strafe, also I always find that the shoulder buttons on the PSP leave my fingers cramped after playing it for a while as they are positioned so high.

Well I have Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank on PS2 and I don't find them THAT hard to strafe and control, but yeah it is a lot more awkward than the other games though, and the controls aren't as smooth and comfortable to use.

I haven't played the PSP versions since I don't have a PSP and I don't plan on getting one just for two games =P

That's kind of odd to say, Revan, since the way the controls are set up are similar to the layout of a PS1/PS2 controller. Granted, it's much skinnier though. I found it more awkward to play with lock-strafe (even though I used that in Deadlocked a lot) since it obviously wasn't intended to be on the PS2 in the first place. But hey, it's on PS2 and PSP - everyone wins, right? 8P

… Just wish the loading times weren't long for SAC PS2.

I do agree with you, Tara. Size Matter's controls on PS2 are the worst, I think. Ratchet moves way too slow. SAC's controls are a bit better, I think. Plus, overall, I love SAC, but find SM to be rather dull after playing it through once.

Though I still see potential for a SAC2. Especially character wise.

- Big Al as a parody of Q
- Clank as a robotic James Bond
- Ratchet could be a means of gathering intel, going a different path that Clank doesn't go on the same planet (you probably could choose or there'd be certain paths only Clank or Ratchet can take).
- Qwark… would be Qwark. Trying to hog the glory again. He's a glory hog, so yeah….
- Sasha could make a return, becoming that lady that runs MI6 in James Bond (or a damsel in distress, no matter how cliche that is).
- Dr. Nefarious would make a great villain, plus add some comedy to it. If SAC itself is a spin off game, there's no rule saying "no sequels to spin off games". Look at Mario Party. So if he dies or something in the canon games, I don't think it'd matter.
- The story/missions could be more in the style of the SAC TV show we saw in R&C3. Don't get me wrong, I loved the way SAC handled things, but it felt pretty restricted to me.

One major thing I'd want to see on a new PSP Ratchet game is free roaming. Kinda like in ACiT. SAC2 could introduce that, where you can drive vehicles around to get to certain destinations quicker. Sure, it'd probably eliminate the whole "planet hopping" thing (unless HIG or another developer finds a way to keep planet hopping in the PSP game). I just think it has potential.

Heh those ideas actually sound pretty cool for a SAC2 XD!

But yeah, the PS2 loading times for SAC are awful! That's one of the reasons I don't play it often… but I'm sure if they did another, they'd fix that.

What about Maximillian? He was basically the main villain in the Secret Agent Clank holo-show from Up Your Arsenal. He could probably return in a SAC sequel too… if he's still alive.

True. I had forgotten about him. Though why do I think he'd be like "Dr. Evil"? That's Austin Powers… lol

well i think it could happen..

this cud happen. i dont mind really

If they make a SAC sequel, probably it won't be a SAC game but traditional RC game since SAC is just a sequel to SM
