There's power, but no trains to take me home. At all. So still stuck. My dad is going to pick me up, I'd rather not spend the night at the officeemoji

Let's hope so emoji Seriously though, that sucks. I mean the power is pretty needed in the places like hospitals and such…

Ratchet & Clank soundtrack recorded in my home city? Now that'd be nice emoji That's pretty unlikely though, I think they'd rather record it without leaving the US. The Namco Sound Team on the other hand is… Impossible. They're Namco Sound Team after all.

About Namco, well, IG could have just cooperate with them, but, yeah, it's impossible, but if it happens, it'd be nice!

Hurray, we're home! Local time: 23:23. So almost midnight. emoji
T'was a pretty neat day. Being stuck at work isn't so bad. We played with the Oculus, went to get some popcorn, cola etc and watched The Interstellar. We also got some Ras fries, first time I ate those in 2015. ^^

Hospitals have backup generators so that power cuts can't cause any trouble.

Even we've got a backup power supply at our home because we've had a bad history of power cuts. It's mostly because people let trees on their property grow large around the power lines, so that when storms hit the trees fall onto the power lines and everyone has to suffer.

I do wonder what caused half of HeatherGrace's countries power to go out though? Sounds worse than when our countries lead ISP went out for about an hour one day early this year.

Speaking of power outages, I remember making a thread about them on here a few years ago when I had two power outages in the same month. That was an unusual year, cause I rarely ever lose power.

Also, when a large area loses power all at once, it's usually caused by something major, like a malfunction at a power station.

That's probably the cause for the power cut. But it's hard to believe that one station going down would have half a country going without power. Then again, what other reason could there be?

Oh, I remember a power station malfunction causing massive blackouts in the Northeastern US, and even parts of Canada back in 2003. You see, many power stations are interconnected and share power with each other, and if one goes down, the other ones are supposed to take over for it until it gets back online. However, if the other ones are overloaded, that can cause them all to shut down, which causes a massive blackout. That is what caused the Northeastern blackout back in 2003.

Well that sounds like poor planning. It sounds like they underestimated how much power would be needed to keep the entire area… well powered.

In a perfect world, they could shut down any one power station and have the required power still come through from other power stations without any trouble.

The worst power failure NZ has ever had would be the one which had the city centre of our largest city go down for about 5 weeks. I can't remember what caused it exactly, but I think it was something to do with the power cables… as with all of our problems.

Worst case for me was when a firetruck hit an electricity pole, no energy for two weeks!
Felt like an eternity without the Internet…

EDIT: There was also one time where a criminal hit an electricity pole while trying to escape the cops, although that time it only took 3 days for them to fix it up…

What was your electrical company doing this whole time? emoji

Probably taking care of people who matter.
I sort of live in the middle of nowhere.

TWO WEEKS!? I don't think I could stand being without power for that long. I'd be wanting to either stay with a relative, or check into a hotel after the second day of no power.

Anyways, I think the longest power outage I've ever experienced was about six hours after a transformer in a substation blew a fuse, and that was a really long time ago.

So, you live in a town or a village?

By the way, those were some weird power cut cases. Here, from what I know, the worst power cut cases were caused by fires and thunder strikes
