That could work. As long as they don't just revert back to the old Omniwrench 8,000 - it always confused me slightly as to why Ratchet suddenly had his original wrench back in ToD instead of the one he had throughout the latter half of the PS2 series…
Judge by the images of the movie, I'd say that is unlikely.

Actually it's not the same. ToD's wrench is the 3000 model, not 8000… for some reason.

Well yeah, but… The character appearance is pretty important thing, so my guess it will be one of these movie parts the game will share. And that includes the Wrench our hero handles. But it would be fun if we were actually able to get a new wrench(es) along the way, like in GC.

I quite liked that design too! In fact, it's probably my favourite design of all the main gour wrenches. Though, that is also one of the reasons that I like the Millennium 12; it bears a strong resemblance to the 10,000, albeit with a slightly duller colour scheme.
I also went back over the trailers and images, and, unless I've missed something, it looks as though they have yet to show the Wrench, but my guess is that it will either be the classic silver design like the 8,000 or the 3,000, or it will be the Millennium 12. Somehow I get the impression they're not going to come up with a new design for the movie, and I doubt they'll use the 10,000 or the 12,000….

Looks the same to me, but I was refering to the posters of Ratchet's wrench.
