Thread: Pretty Random Movie Thread

Ha, just got to watch the movie again from the comfort of my own couch. And in glorious English. Finaly!

Anyway, I'm gonna stick with my original opinion: It's a great stuffing movie… when you already love the series.
It is a piece filled with deux ex machinas for the unseeing eye, so I understand why this movie didn't do so well for the mainstream movie watcher. But as an R&C fan I can only say good things about this piece. If it were a straight to DVD release like Heavenly Sword, I think it wouldn't have received the negative reviews. Not as many anyway.

I also can't stress enough how visually stunning this movie is! I hadn't realized that the game and movie are pretty much in tandem with their beautifull visuals. If anyone ever asks me what animation has the best lighting, R&C is definitely on top of that list. Aside from that, the story is quick and simple, has lost and lost and LOTS of little refrences, funny little humorous moments and cute dialogu. So my opinion of the movie:

I'm a hardcore Ratchet and Clank fan and I grew up playing the game,I was so excited to see the movie and when I went to watch it at my local cinema a few months ago I was very disappointed emoji,THE MOVIE IS BASICALLY ALL THE CUTSCENES FROM THE GAME ON PS4!!!!

You do realize it's the other way around? It's the game that uses clips from the movie and the movie's plot… Besides, people really exaggerate the problem, there's not that many footage shared between these two.

Yeah, I don't think it's great either. However when I first saw it in theaters, I was just fanboying out at the time thinking "THIS IS THE BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE!", then I bought it on DVD and watched it again and… yeah, it's not great.

Mainly, it's just another generic "some loser dreams big, then a thing happens and now he's as big as Kirit- uh, Jesus, then something bad happens and he's sad about it, but then gets a pep talk and fixes things and now his life is at least 50% better now" kinda movie. Forgettable story, forgettable characters, forgettable moments and to top it all off… REFERENCES! References about 80's things, because that's when the best things were made and we have to keep the past alive by saying these things exist over and over. We get it, movie, Rambo was a thing, now do something original for once! Geez, it's like a plague for animation nowadays (Lookin' at you, present day Cartoon Network. You adorable nostalgia-killers, you.)

I can't bring myself to hate this movie though. There were some things I liked about it, like the idea of Ratchet being raised by some guy (kinda like Superman) and Quark had a couple funny moments here as well. It's clearly not as bad as some critics make it out to be (A 1.6 on Rotten Tomatoes? Really?) but regardless it'll just end up in the bargain bin with all the other disappointments, no matter how shiny the case might be.

Well that's the movie's problem isn't it? It's a 'straight-to-DVD' movie that didn't go straight to DVD. Regardless I still love it, cause it's R&C. And R&C is awesome. If I want an original mindblowing plot I'll grab Edge of Tomorrow of the shelf. But if I just want to lie down and enjoy the ride, I will pick up R&C. emoji

If he's american, it's the other way around. We got the game first, then I totally forgot about the movie until the 2nd day it came out!!!

Hahaha, similar situation here. I think I watched it on the second week of the screening. And got the game weeks before the movie came out.

Seriously? I'm not talking about what who experienced first, I'm saying that the game is using movie's footage, is borrowing from the movie's plot, it even uses some of the assets Rainmaker created FOR THE MOVIE, not the other way around. And that's the same no matter where you live xP I get that you can say there's no point in watching the movie, when so much of it was implemented into the game, but when people say "the movie is just compilation of GAMES'S cutscenes", that's just not fair towards the poeple who worked on the movie.

True that. At the core they're scenes from the movie, edited to fit in the game.

I have question , does anybody know a reviewer name the blockbuster buster
