Thread: The Food Thread

Uh, you mean the largest city in the country or state/province?

We don't have states, only regions. So I do mean the largest city in New Zealand… it's full of Jaffas!

I'm not a big chocolate fan, but one thing's for sure: there is no morning without it. The key ingredients in my breakfast are milk and chocolate. Whether it's a bowl of milk and chocolate cereal or a glass of milk and a chocolate cupcake or chocolate chip cookies, I feel like my day is ruined if I don't eat something like that when I wake up. It's like a habit of mine…
Once in a while, it happens that we have no milk left and mom gives me a cup of tea and a slice of toast with cheese and I'm like: "NOOOO! Unacceptable!"emoji

Jaffas sound interesting. Wasn't there a similar custom in England? But they use huge cheese rolls instead of chocolate?

Really? Chocolate isn't that important for my morning. What does matter to me are eggs, bread, and cheese (complete opposite of yours, eh? emoji ). Breakfast isn't complete without them. And I oftenly have water as drink, though I also like tea (jasmine tea is my favourite).

Hello, since you're new here, if you wish to introduce yourself, there is an Introduce Yourself thread just for that! Welcome, and hope you enjoy your time on these forums! emoji

No to just general chocolate? Preposterous!

No chocolate. It's ''super weird'', especially for one of the female race… but I'm not a fanemoji

But you do love pancakes, right? Right?

Pancakes are great! I love both the American version and the ones that we usually make.

As you can obviously see from the pictures above, our pancakes are a lot thinner, we cover them up with jam and then roll them.

Yup. Dutch version is pretty much the same as yers. I like them with plain syrup and a couple different kinds of sugar. Whatever I can find in the cupboard ^^

Yeah, I've tried Dutch pancakes, which tasted great. How about poffertjes?

Over here we call the little ones pikelets, and those big thin ones pancakes. They are all good with maple syrup, but whenever we have pickelets (which is far more often than pancakes), I cover them instead with Nutella. People think I am quite strange for doing it, but then again, I have never seen someone try it and not enjoy it.

Oh and as far as breakfast goes, I usually go for Cocoa Pops or something very similar every single morning. But if we are running low on cereal I would have to resort to toast. I very rarely have anything but this.

About breakfast, I also enjoy local foods like chicken porridge and fried rice, though we don't eat them that often.

Ugh, no. Those make me feel sick to my stomach just by thinking about them. They're too buttery. emoji

English breakfast please! But minus the beans and tea

Um, maybe replace the meat things with halal meat, you know. And for the tea, maybe jasmine. Yup, I love drinking tea!
