Thread: My "dream" Multiplayer R&C game

Since I was a bit disappointed by how FFA turned out, I thought I'd share what I would have liked to see in a multiplayer Ratchet & Clank game.

First off, no tower defense. In order to win the player must kill their opponent(s) three times. There's still a main base, however it serves no real purpose other than to restock on ammo and health.
Each player must choose a total of 3 weapons and 2 gadgets to bring into battle (you start off with only a blaster and grenade launcher for weapons and a swingshot and hover boots for gadgets, but you'll unlock more weapons as you level up) and then they will be brought to a character customisation screen, where there will be various attributes (speed, jump and defense) that the player can upgrade using 5 skill points (these upgrades don't carry over onto other battles).
During battle, the player can go to his base and downgrade any of his attributes in favour of upgrading another one.
In order to make things more balanced, each time a player is killed he will be given one skill point.

Basically the game would revolve a lot more around customisation and upgrading and the tower defense mechanic would be thrown out in favour of the more traditional deathmatch.

I just thought I would share this and I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on it.

To be honest, I liked the idea of Tower defense, and UYA kinda had that concept as well. However, a pvp match without tower defense could work. I like the idea, and I think it could be cool emoji

I really like the idea of tower defense and in FFA's competetive mode it actually worked. If they were ever making another multiplayer for a Ratchet game, I wish they'll improove it rather than get rid of this concept.

I actually agree with Kubak. I think that the tower defense aspects made the multiplayer quite interesting. I too would like to see them expanded on in favour of the more traditional deathmatch type game modes.

Oh, nice opinion, Kubak. Maybe they should improve it like by adding more game modes and max. player capacity. Maybe a game mode like "Capture the Flag" would be nice, where the main objective is to capture the enemy flag and bring it to the home base and defend the flag

This one is just perfect imo : the tower defence system brings a huge part of tactic in the game and therefore it becomes very interest. A good multiplayer does not consist in fighting and killing, but in fighting AND thinking. FFA is the best mix of these two aspects : a big part of strategy and a big part of skills. Many players are among the best because they are very skilled, however many others are because they have an excellent strategy. For instance, a guy named "terpo50" has succeeded in beating a French pvp pro called "Monty_Gold". And terpo is not a good pvp player. So when you play FFA, you absolutely need a very efficient strategy, and also good reflexes, but also pvp skills ! Imo FFA is a very intense and fascinating game, as far as I couldn't even imagine it. After 2-3 years of gaming, I'm still loving it…

If by skill and stratergy you mean glitching and stalking players with over powered weapons and a rich get richer system then you're right

Nah nah nah. Not at all. I'm not talking about cheating. I'm talking about a real and serious match, about having fun. You mau don't know it because you might not have played with these players. But they exists. They play for fun, and they make the game so fun.
Now, I don't give a damn for glitching, I whop them, then I kick (ignore) them because there is no interest to play with or against those players. However, most of whom now play for fun and therefore our matches are excellent. You should try to play a few matches with serious players and then see how it can be cool

For instance, I always win 1vs1 without PBL, and without glitching. I also don't stalk (because they stalk me and then realise it is not efficient, not productive, so we don't stalk each other). My style of game only relies on strategy : getting nodes fastly, upgrading good weapons (I remind you I don't get WM), managing my base, anticipate my way,… This is how I win. This is very complicate, and there is NO glitch or stalk !

I would like to entertain the idea of incorporating multiplayer into traditional R&C gameplay.

i would like more modes like capture the flag control point vanquish comfiem these would have been nice game modes

My dream R&C multiplayer would be one where people actually played.

Oh, and I'd like a multiplay3r R&C game with vehicle-only maps, like a space battle or tank battle map. And also healing guns. They're very useful when facing hordes of enemies and your teammates are running out of health.
