Thread: ps2 HD remakes

Anyone heard anything about this, it would be awesome if sony would do this, and they should know that.

I believe they re-released the Sly Cooper trilogy on PS3, if that's what you're talking about.

Some PS2 games I'd like to see remade for PS3: Crash Bandicoot: the Wrath of Cortex, Simpsons Hit and Run, and the Jak trilogy (although I have only played the first one) EDIT: and the TY the Tasmanian Tiger games. And yes I know they'd all be extremely unlikely.

I wouldnt doubt Jak… It was pretty popular!

If I heard the origionals were on the PS3 I would soo wish they were in the same quality as the Future series! Ya know, completly remade!

I agree the original Ratchets would have to be almost completely re-made as the graphics just aren't up to HD standards. All 3D models and textures would have to be revised. There is a fine example of how things are screwn up when PS2 3D models are just ported over to PS3 - Gran Turismo 5. They hadn't enough time to model all of the cars again so 750 out of the 1000 cars were just ported from Gran Turismo 4 (or 3) which was a PS2 game.

But would they use the ToD and QfB models for the characters? The remakes wouldn't have the same feel as the originals, but it would be the easiest way to do it as there would be no need for other than making the armour and clothing again.

I actually find it quite probable for both Ratchet and Jak HD collections to appear, especially Ratchet because if IG will take a break and make the next Ratchet after A4O as a PS4 launch title, it would fill the gap nicely. And then there is the possibility of a PS Vita Ratchet as well (but IG said they have no plans to develop games for PSV, it would be a 3rd party developer).

Is this another thread about the PS2 Ratchet games in HD, or any PS2 game in HD release for the PS3? I only ask just because we had quite a lot of threads like this in the past. If we're just talking about any PS2 game in HD, then will keep this topic going.

I think Sony does best when it comes to releasing PS2 games in HD. Games like God of War, Tomb Raider, Sly Cooper, Prince of Persia, and now the Ico and the Shadow of the Colossus have been released in HD for the PS3.

For future HD releases, I will agree that at least the Jak and Ratchet games for the PS2 should have an HD collection. After all, they are Sony's iconic mascots.

Even if these aren't exclusive Sony releases, but I would love to play Psychonauts or Okami in HD. If Psychnauts was ever out in HD, I bet it will only be purchased through the PSN just like the HD release of Beyond Good and Evil. Okami has already been remade for the Wii, but I think it would play well for the PS3.

That would be awsome if they redid simpsons hit and run! I hope they release another hd remake soon i'd love to play some of these games in hd

I'd also like to see Crash Twinsanity on HD PS3… or better yet remade completely because there was a frakload of content deleted from it. E.g. all these deleted scenes and levels.

It would seem there's an unconfirmed rumour aboout a Jak and Daxter HD collection…

A remake of Ratchet and clank UYA would be so AWESOME

Well frak me…

I might like to purchase that: I've never played the entire trilogy. I own and have completed the first one, and I played a bit of Jak X that I rented a couple of times a few years ago. It might be interesting to play the whole trilogy through.

Uh yes, that is a good series of games! (Jak) I enjoyed playing them! However I have never owned them, and would really like to! But that means I gotta start again? And I would love to see them in HD, so I would get it! I am sure many would

I think for anyone who has never played any of the Jak games is a must recommend for any fan of platforming games. If you already have a PS2 including all the Jak games, then I don't really think it's that necessary.

Ah… the Jak series was my first love in gaming.
I still love the series, it was a BLAST to play through!

If anyone remembers a little while ago when Naughty Dog "announced" that they would only be a one franchise per console company-I was one of the many fans jumping down their throats for a new Jak game. I've since then calmed myself down, but one of my comments made it onto a blogpost on a fairly reputable gaming site.

(My quotes was the last one in a box)

Sadly, my PS2 has finally decided to stop working. The controller port messes with the controllers so I can no longer use the controller properly So I'm glad there are PS2 remakes being made.
I'll definitely buy the Jak collection as soon as it's released and also keep my fingers crossed for a Ratchet collection so I can return to playing the old classic titles of the series…
Those two series were the only PS2 games I ever really played, so I'm not too fussed if no other games I own on PS2 are released in HD, but I would certainly love to be able to play through the Jak series and the original Rathet titles again…
